Teen Driving Safety Contest Winners
Congratulations to the several students from NAHS participated in a virtual Teen Driving Safety Series last night. The students, Arancha Antunes, Breanna Sullivan, Gabby Kaminski, and Jenna Santos had an opportunity to learn safe driving tips along with getting a chance to meet other teens from around the county. The event concluded with the annual poster contest sponsored by Hackensack Medical Center and State Farm Insurance. This competition had many submissions from high school students throughout Bergen County including several of our own students. NAHS had two winners!!!!

NAHS Recognizes Epilepsy Awareness Day
The SADD/Interact Club organized a school-wide "wear purple day" to recognize Epilepsy Awareness Day. Many students and teachers wore purple to show their support and club members were outside decorating the school with purple ribbons as well. Thank you Mrs. Gagliano for organizing!

NAHS is Awarded a Grant from 7-11
Thanks to Sherry and all those at the River Road 7-11 for awarding NAHS the "Project A-Game" Grant. The money will be used to purchase equipment for our student-athletes to train outdoors and socially distant.

Vikatrons Continue to Compete!
The NAHS Robotics Team, the "Vikatrons" won 3 of their four matches on Saturday, 1/16 at the world's first virtual drone competition - VRAD. Teams participated from all across the USA and Canada. Great Job Vikatrons and congratulations Mrs. Pontius!

SADD/Interact Continues Their Community Service
Congratulations and a big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the annual Gift Giving Galavanza hosted by the SADD/Interact Club. This year we were lucky enough to partner with Nona's Lisa Pizzeria to help collect gifts. Together, we collected about 100 items to be donated through the Mercy House in Newark to children in need this holiday season!

Congratulations to this Month's Characters with Character
Congratulations to the Characters with Character! Students are nominated by faculty members for serving as a positive example to the school community and exhibiting exemplary character for others to model. Given the hybrid learning environment, students were notified by Mr. Kenny via email and sent selfies for the picture. Students will still be honored with a certificate of recognition from our State Senator and their names displayed on the digital board in front of school. This month's winners are (from left to right): Jenalie Matarama (11), Amy Roufaeil (11) and Adam Soto (10).

Dr. Necoechea & the Astronomy Club have their 1st "Virtual Viewing Night"
Astrophotographs!
This is a picture of Saturn that was captured picture with a Canon EOS Rebel T6 digital camera attached to a laptop. The color is due to hydrogen and helium in the atmosphere.
The picture below with the cloud bands is Jupiter. The atmosphere shows the "banding" because the planet is very windy due to rapid rotation, and the alternating dark and light colors are produced by ascending and descending atmospheric currents.
