he Multicultural Advocacy Club celebrated the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos

The Multicultural Advocacy Club celebrated the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos at the end of October.  Students decorated pumpkins with the traditional sugar pumpkin skulls decor. In addition, the staff of Pomptonian combined efforts with the students and prepared a Mexican themed lunch.  During this special lunch students and staff were invited to write the name of a loved one on a banner that will be hung up as a remembrance, which is also part of this holiday's tradition.

#KnockOutOpioidAbuse

One of the themes for Homecoming 2019 was to "Knock Out" Opioid Abuse by raising awareness not just amongst NAHS Students, but the community as a whole. Our new Student Assistance Coordinator, Ms. Melissa Muth was on-hand to distribute information as families came through the gates at the football game. I'd like to thank Coach Savage and the team for wearing the decals on the helmets and I thank the entire community for helping us to spread the message about the dangers of opioid abuse.

Ø More than 3,100 people in New Jersey died of a drug overdose in 2018, most of which were opioid-related. Let your friends and family know you’re here today by using the hashtag #KnockOutOpioidAbuse to spread the word.
Ø Male youth athletes are more likely to be prescribed opioid painkillers and are four times more likely to misuse them than males who don’t play organized sports.  Let your friends and family know you’re here today by using the hashtag #KnockOutOpioidAbuse to spread the word.

Ø Nearly one-half of young people who inject heroin reported abusing prescription opioids before starting to use heroin.  Let your friends and family know you’re here today by using the hashtag #KnockOutOpioidAbuse to spread the word.
Ø Nearly 1 in 7 U.S. high school students reported misusing prescription opioids. Let your friends and family know you’re here today by using the hashtag #KnockOutOpioidAbuse to spread the word.
