Viking Activities Fair Promotes Involvement in Extracurriculars

On October 8th, our advisors, coaches, and student leadership set up the 2nd annual Viking Activities Fair as students were dismissed. 9th graders were given exclusive access to the Fair at 2pm and our newest students were urged to join a club or activity they might not have considered previously. Thanks to all who helped put this together!

#KnockOutOpioidAbuse

One of the themes for Homecoming 2019 was to "Knock Out" Opioid Abuse by raising awareness not just amongst NAHS Students, but the community as a whole. Our new Student Assistance Coordinator, Ms. Melissa Muth was on-hand to distribute information as families came through the gates at the football game. I'd like to thank Coach Savage and the team for wearing the decals on the helmets and I thank the entire community for helping us to spread the message about the dangers of opioid abuse.

Ø More than 3,100 people in New Jersey died of a drug overdose in 2018, most of which were opioid-related. Let your friends and family know you’re here today by using the hashtag #KnockOutOpioidAbuse to spread the word.
Ø Male youth athletes are more likely to be prescribed opioid painkillers and are four times more likely to misuse them than males who don’t play organized sports.  Let your friends and family know you’re here today by using the hashtag #KnockOutOpioidAbuse to spread the word.

Ø Nearly one-half of young people who inject heroin reported abusing prescription opioids before starting to use heroin.  Let your friends and family know you’re here today by using the hashtag #KnockOutOpioidAbuse to spread the word.
Ø Nearly 1 in 7 U.S. high school students reported misusing prescription opioids. Let your friends and family know you’re here today by using the hashtag #KnockOutOpioidAbuse to spread the word.

Homecoming Parade 2019

Thanks to the NAPD and our Band, Colorguard, and cheerleaders for leading our football team and Homecoming Court onto the field. Not only was the parade a success, but the Vikings got their first win of the season 22-10 over Elmwood Park. Great job Vikings!

2019-20 Summer Improvements

It's amazing what a new coat of paint and some extra attention can do for a school. I'm proud to say we have air conditioners in our classrooms (thanks to the BOE and the Class of 2018) and we are so excited to begin the school year on a great footing and look forward to seeing all our students again!
